The DarkVault 2.0 Critical Gear Case is purpose-built for smartphone use in austere environments. Attach the DarkVault 2.0 to plate-carriers or chest rigs, and you can quickly dock and use your phone for navigation, ballistics info, or ad-hoc mesh comms. Built to work with normal phone cases, you no longer need to run a bulky, conspicuous case just to have a tactical mounting solution.  Have easy access to your ATAK, iTAK, civTAK, or other software in this End-User Device (EUD). Choose our upgraded Blocking Versions to reduce electromagnetic signature up to 110dB**, significantly reducing susceptibility to geolocation or data access.

The DarkVault 2.0 is a tactical phone mount that is like other phone MOLLE mounts, but with considerable impact protection compared to Juggernaut-like cases.  Unlike competitors, it includes the mounting system.  The case mounting system uses approximately 4 slots of MOLLE/PALS (width) and 3 inches of height. This equates to about 3 rows of webbing on a chest rig.

Product Selection Considerations

Darkvault 2.0 comes in two different sizes. Each size can be purchased as the 'Blocking' model or the 'Comms' model. The size of Darkvault 2.0 you choose is based on the model of your phone.

Thyrm's own phone compatibility lookup tool can be found here. We recommend using it.

Blocking or Comms Model

The primary difference between the two model types is the use of specialized polymer material in the Blocking version which reduces signal transmission from your phone to greatly reduce its detectability. Bluetooth communications will still work normally with the Blocking model.

Use of Phone Cases with Darkvault 2.0

Most phone cases marketed as "slim", "sleek" or "minimalist" will work. Some that are "drop-proof" or "military-grade" are compatible. However, cases that include two-piece top/bottom designs, extended bumpers, kickstands or rings, and sliding camera covers are too large.

When in doubt, check the dimensions of the case compared to the dimensions here. If you were running a larger case to protect your phone during times when you are wearing a plate carrier, chest rig, or similar, you might be able to use a smaller case, then add the protection of the DarkVault 2.0 during missions, call-outs, and training.

Compatible case examples include the UAG Pathfinder, Apple Brand cases, Crave Dual Guard, and OtterBox Symmetry. Non-compatible case examples include the Unicorn Beetle by SupCase and the OtterBox Defender series.

Maximum dimensions for a phone case, in each DarkVault 2.0 size are: Regular DarkVault 2.0: 6.1 x 3.1 x 0.48 in3. Large DarkVault 2.0: 6.7 x 3.3 x 0.48 in3.  Measure height of the case at the lengthwise center; you can ignore slight added case height at the camera end of the phone.
